Smith Burger Co’s Glazed and Confused burger was freaking amazing

Yesterday on 4/20 in the parking lot of NurEra Urbana, Smith Burger Co teamed up with Ye Olde Donut to create the Glazed and Confused burger: two beef patties with strips of bacon, pepperjack cheese, and sweet chili aioli on a toasted donut — and it was amazing.

There was a long line for both this special burger and the Urbana dispensary, but I was able to snag one of the special donut burgers from Smith Burger Co’s green truck before they sold out.

The Ye Olde glazed donut was sliced in half. The glazed part was flipped in toward the center, and the bready part was grilled to dark crisp. Some of the donut’s glaze flaked onto my lap and some caramelized into the Smith Burger Co patties. In between the donut halves, spicy pepperjack cheese melted on top of two slices of thick bacon and two smashburger patties. The sweet chili aioli pooled in the donut hole, giving all the middle bites a saucy, spicy taste. The bacon and beef really stood up to the sweet donut bun, especially with the added heat from the cheese and aioli. The Glazed and Confused was everything: sweet, spicy, cheesy, meaty, messy, and totally unique.
