Brass Rail, the quirky dive bar of Downtown Champaign, will temporarily close its doors as new ownership takes over the bar.

A longtime bartender of The Rail wrote in a public post on Facebook:

…the bar will soon have new ownership. We had planned to stay open straight through but due to unforeseen circumstances the bar will be temporarily closed, the last day of service for a bit will be Friday March 31st. For a little over 4 years I have been manager of The Rail. It has been a huge honor to try and keep it chugging along in the style Fote created and perfected since 1975. I hope new ownership will do the same.

Brass Rail will close this Friday night. No re-opening date has yet been announced, so get over to The Rail and get a drink any night this week before Saturday.
