Rajmohan Gandhi, the grandson of Mahatma Gandhi and research professor at the University of IllinoisCenter for South Asian and Middle Eastern Studies, dined at Kohinoor Indian Restaurant in Champaign over the weekend. The Indian biographer and historian was joined by his spouse Usha Gandhi.

Ever since Kohinoor opened in 2016, we have loved the restaurant’s Indian cuisine. In 2019, we named Kohinoor one of the BEST new restaurants of the decade. Personally, I am obsessed with the restaurant’s weekday thali lunch which serves a sampler of chicken curry, lamb korma, naan, samosas, and more. Sara wrote about Kohinoor’s incredible vegetarian dishes, and Jess likes the Restaurant Week takeout here, too. If you want to learn more about the Indian restaurant, read our interview with the head chef and his son, co-owner and restaurant manager here.
