Last month, high school students from Centennial and Central joined med students at Carle Illinois College of Medicine to learn the ins and outs of the medical professions. The high schoolers, part of the AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) program, had the opportunity to participate in a variety of workshops focused on medical skills such as detecting heart and lung sounds, intubation, ear exams, and neurologic exams.

The aim of the Doctor For a Day event, was to introduce students from underrepresented groups to the field of medicine, and it was facilitated by the CI Med chapter of the Student National Medical Association.

You can read more about the event at the Carle Illinois website.
