Charlene Teters is an artist, writer, educator, and activist and a member of the Spokane nation. She received an MFA from the University of Illinois in 1994. During her time here as a grad student, she led protests against the former mascot, and she was the subject of the 1997 documentary In Whose Honor? by Jay Rosenstein.
Teters will be on campus later this month to receive the School of Art and Design Distinguished Alumni Award, and will make several appearances.
