On this week’s podcast, Tom Meibach and Justin Powell, co-organizers of Turn It UP! 2013, drop by the studio to tell us all about this year’s event, several other events and benefits on the horizon, and getting involved in the community.
Turn It UP! is an annual variety show and fundraising event for The UP Center of Champaign County. This year’s show takes place Friday, April 12, at Lincoln Square in Urbana, and will feature a range of performers and entertainers all donating their time and talents to benefit The UP Center and the many causes and outreach initiatives they support.
Tom and Justin are both also involved with the annual Artists Against AIDS show, and a benefit show for the TIMES Center, and shared with us how they have been able to become more actively involved in the community and ways that other people can too.
Smile Politely Radio airs each Friday evening at 5:30 on WEFT 90.1 FM in Champaign, and is available as a podcast the following week.
