After much anticipation, Fernando’s new brick-and-mortar restaurant will open on Friday, May 12th in the former Super Taco space near Cloud9 dispensary in North Champaign. Fernando’s very first taco truck opened in 2016, and a second truck opened last year. Fernando’s has made a name for itself in Champaign-Urbana for delicious nachos, chicken burritos, tacos, tortas, and more.

The new counter-service restaurant will serve the food truck’s menu, and the owner plans to add beer to the beverage options in the future.

Diners will order at the register and pick up meals at the counter, but instead of everything packaged to go, the food will be served on real plates.

Fernando’s restaurant has plenty of seating in the casual dining room. There’s even call ahead ordering (217-255-0210) for easy eats after running errands on North Prospect.

Starting this Friday at the 11 a.m. grand opening, the Champaign restaurant will be open daily for lunch, dinner, and late night Mexican cuisine.
