On November 4th, Grainger College of Engineering, in partnership with Urbana Free Library and Urbana-Champaign Big Broadband, will be launching the world’s first public quantum network. What is a quantum network? This short info video from Grainger does a great job of describing something that is sort of hard to wrap your brain around, in an understandable way:
The launch will take place at Urbana Free Library from 1 to 4 p.m. Here is the schedule of events for the day:
- 1 to 1:45 p.m.: Enjoy hands-on activities about quantum science and technology.
- 1:45 to 2 p.m.: Welcoming and opening statements from Dean Rashid Bashir, Mayor Diane Marlin, UC2B 23-24 Board co-chair Paul Hixson, and a representative from The Urbana Free Library.
- 2 to 2:30 p.m.: Listen to a talk about the Public Quantum Network and see a live demonstration.
- 2:30 to 4 p.m.: Enjoy hands-on activities about quantum science and technology.
This event is free and open to all.
