The Urbana Arts and Culture Program and Urbana Park District, as well as Urbana Poet Laureate Ashanti Files have announced the inaugural Teen Writer’s Retreat. The event will happen at Anita Purves Nature Center and Busey Woods. The program will include guided writing exercises, nature walks, and “a chance to flex your creative writing muscles.” Attendees also receive a free writing materials, free lunch, and refreshments.
Open to ages 11-18, the event is Saturday, October 2nd, and runs from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The event is free through online registration, but only twelve spots are available. Masks are required.
