Suffragette + Panel Discussion with the League of Women Voters, 7 p.m., Art Theater Co-op, $5
Check out Carey Mulligan, Helena Bonham Carter, and Meryl Streep, in this film about “the [white] women who were willing to lose everything in their fight for equality in early-20th-century Britain.” The League of Women Voters of Champaign will lead a community discussion afterward about the current struggles women face in the political sphere. Lazy, Krazy, Wish and Flesh. Is there any more to say? BTNH are one of the most classic rap groups from our childhood’s and they are going to be at the Canopy Club. And it looks like they’re actually going to show up this time. And to top it all off they’re calling this they E. 1999 Eternal reunion tour so that means they’ll be playing all the hits. C-U Folk & Roots Festival, Downtown Urbana, all weekend, price varies
There’s real gem of a festival happening all over Downtown Urbana this weekend — the C-U Folk & Roots Festival. Although the festival started on Thursday evening at Krannert, there are dozens of performances lined up all over Downtown Urbana. This is the 7th annual installment of the fest, and covers a ton of ground. Check out the full schedule, and more about the lineup while you’re at it. (PS)
The Godfather, The Art Theater, 10 p.m., $8
If you have ever wondered what it would be like to see the boss of mobster movies on a big screen, here is your chance. The Art Theater will be screening The Godfather this Friday at 10 p.m. Mario Puzo’s famous novel turned blockbuster hit follows the Corleone family business and its rise to power amongst the mobs of New York. The Godfather is generally regarded as one of the greatest films in world cinema. “Leave the gun. Take the cannoli” and bring it to The Art Theater this Friday to feast upon one of the best films of all time. (BC)

This is the last outdoor market of the season, and there are still plenty of options for fresh produce. You can pick up local meat, dairy, and honey, as well as arts and crafts items. KAM is hosting Stephen Taylor and the Jupiter String Quartet in what is sure to be a wonderful afternoon of classical music – plus it’s free, so you can get your culture on for the low, low price of nothing. This is why I love Champaign-Urbana. (BH)
IllinoiSkating Fall Exhibition, 4:30-6 p.m., University of Illinois Ice Arena, $3/student, $5/general
Fall is almost over, so get in the winter spirit by viewing an exhibition by the Illinois Synchronized Skating Team. They are performing for the first time on home ice this weekend to kick off the competition season. (RP)

Dancing Dog has been testing out recipes for deep dish pizza, and will be offering slices Saturday night while they last. If you’ve been sorely missing deep dish pizza as a vegan, here’s your chance o indulge. The photo looks great — I’m sure it will be delicious. Ferguson Film Screening, Figure One Gallery, 116 N. Walnut St., Champaign, 6 p.m., free
As part of the exhibition Eyes Wide Open, Figure1 will be hosting a screening of the documentary Ferguson: a report from occupied territory by reporter Tim Pool and director Orlando de Guzman. Exploring the concept of for-profit policing, the filmmakers turn to the residents of St. Louis County to get not only their reactions to Mike Brown’s death, but the long-term consequences of living with racial profiling and feeling as though their hometown is occupied by enemy forces. Sinfonia da Camera: Seasons, Krannert Center for the Performing Arts Foellinger Great Hall, 7:30 p.m., $40
When the leaves change, it has always reminded me how lucky I am to live somewhere that seasons mean something. What better time than to hear a professional chamber orchestra celebrate that with the works of two composers? Spring and winter will be reflected by the famous Four Seasons of Vivaldi, while Verano and Otono (Summer and Fall) will come from Piazolla’s Four Seasons of Buenos Aires. Andres Cardenes is the featured violinist and will also conduct for part of the performance. (RK)
Defy Gravity Showcase, Defy Gravity Studio Champaign, 6 p.m., $7-10
Halloween celebrations continue with Defy Gravity Studio’s Halloween showcase. Champaign’s top burlesque, pole, trapeze and mixed media performers will come showcase their awesome moves this Sunday at the studio. The studio (stationed between Green and Springfield streets near the 105.5 radio broadcasting studio) opened its new location mid-summer and has been giving a variety of performing arts lessons, from Tango to pole dance. It will surely be a sexy, scary and cool time. (BC)

The Infamous Stringdusters, The Wood Brothers, Canopy Club, 9 p.m., $20
You should go see a show on a Sunday evening, right? I mean, what are you really doing on Monday morning besides trying to avoid working for a few hours? A 9 p.m. start on a Sunday isn’t the worst thing in the world, and this is a double headliner of sorts. Have you seen the Canopy since the new renovations? Lots to see there, so get out therepeople. Review C-U’s leaf pick up schedule
It has been raining leaves for a few weeks now. Check out Champaigns schedule for leaf pick up by clicking here. Here is Urbana’s. A few tips from the city include: don’t bag your leaves in plastic bags; Twigs and branches may be bundled with non-metallic twine or placed in paper yard waste bags. Branches cannot be larger than 2 inches in diameter and 3 1/2 feet long. Bundles cannot be larger than 18 inches in diameter; Materials must be placed within 10 feet of the curb of a public street by 6 a.m. to ensure pickup on your scheduled day. (SL)
