Indie rock group Grandkids returns to Champaign for a night of music over at The Accord. They are coming down from Chicago along with NE-HI and Whitney. Also playing will be local shoegaze group We Have Ghosts– check out this interview we did with them a while back.

Soft Fangs is a solo project of John Lutkevich. Based out of Brooklyn, NY, Soft Fangs has an interesting emo/folk vibe. Also playing at this house show will be slow-rock group Horse Jumper of Love, whose latest release was just reviewed by Pitchfork, and Windmills from Kankakee, IL.

Another big-name country star hits The City Center this Thursday. Jamey Johnson‘s 2010 album The Guitar Song hit number one on the US Country charts. Check out his hit song “In Color”.

Thurston Moore is best known as the singer and guitarist for Sonic Youth. Rolling Stone had him at number 34 in their list of 100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time”, so it is pretty special to have him playing here for us. Also playing will be local groups Motes and Wicked Walls.

Champaign-Urbana’s staple DJ, Belly, will be spinning on the decks at Cowboy Monkey on Saturday evening. Check it out, it is only a few bucks, which you surely have to spare.
