The C-U Singer/Songwriter Collective series rolls on at The Clark Bar this week with Gloria Roubal & Megan Johns. Johns is coming off of her latest release from back in February. We’re glad to see these shows continue and come early in the week — not all shows can be saved for the weekend.

Another solid bill put together here for a C-U Collective show at the IMC. Chicago’s Water House and My Dad join the bill, and My Dad just released a new cassette entitled Stunts. The start time was moved up to 8 p.m. sharp, in order for people to make their way over to Mike ‘N Molly’s for another helping of local punk.
WHAT: Rvins, Aseethe, Lost Coves

Like I said above, plenty of local punk to go around this Friday as Rvins take over Mike ‘N Molly’s. We’re crossing our fingers; it’s almost time to open up that wonderful beer garden, as the countdown for summer has already begun. Aseethe joins from Iowa and Lost Coves come in from New York.
EDITOR’S PICK: ELSINORE, COMMON LOON
Krannert Center of the Performing Arts (free) –– Saturday, March 31st at 10:30 p.m.
Elsinore and Common Loon come together for the local installment of the Pygmalion Music Festival Spring Show Series, in addition to being a part of the Pygmalion Afterglow series. This is the first Afterglow show since John Vanderslice and Damien Jurado last May. Not only are these shows free, but they take place in one of the cooler places to see a show in the area, regardless of whether or not it takes place in the lobby.
I wouldn’t consider either one of the bands as an “opener” for the other (whatever the set order is) because of the talent that lies within both. Neither should outweigh the other — this show is a package deal. You should definitely plan to show up on time to see all of both bands pump their dreamy-indie pop into Krannert as they have done in many venues before. Order of importance isn’t really a factor with this show.
Elsinore is well on their way to making their next full-length record in following up their warmly-recieved Life Inside an Elephant EP from last year, and we also have reason to believe another Common Loon album is on the way (this one was good). If you haven’t seen either of these bands live, keep your money in your wallet by going to this one.
WHAT: Mountain Sprout, Stay Gold Boys, The Legend of Levi Morgan

Arkansas’ Mountain Sprout is embarking on their “Butterflies & Daiseys” Springtime Tour across the midwest. Their music is pretty much exactly what it looks like in the picture, as well as what you would expect songs like “Screw the Gov’t” (opening lyrics: “I’m just an ole redneck hippie / I like my beer and guns and Pa”), “Town Drunk” or “Turkey Buzzard” to sound like. Getting drunk as hell is a central theme here.
