There may be no better cause to have a benefit for than Books to Prisoners, which does just what its name suggests: sends books to prisoners. Be sure to come out and support this awesome cause while also catching Good Ole Prairie Drab and more.

Billy Galt is my favorite musician in Central Illinois, and this Friday, you’ll be able to catch him live at the intimate confines of Memphis On Main – what’s not to love?

Want to go out and go shopping on Black Friday? Me neither. What I do want to do, however, is groove down to a DJ, and thanks to the good folks at Cowboy Monkey, this is now possible.


WHAT: Candy Foster and Shades of Blue

WHERE: Iron Post 

WHEN: Friday, November 27th at 9 p.m.

Candy Foster has been playing all over town recently, including a plethora of performances without his band, Shades of Blue. On Friday, however, he’ll be joined by the full band at Downtown Urbana’s Iron Post for what is sure to be a special show.


WHAT: Brushville

WHERE: The City Center 

WHEN: Friday, November 27th at 9:30 p.m.

Fresh off of being voted the best venue in town by buzz Magazine, The City Center is set to host Brushville this Friday. Perhaps this is the time to see what all the hype is about?


WHAT: Euriah, sewingneedle, Earthholder

WHERE: Mike N Molly’s ($7)

WHEN: Saturday, November 28th at 9 p.m.

Euriah has been carefully exploding as one of the bigger local bands of late, and on Saturday, they take to Mike N Molly’s upstairs for a whale of a post-Thanksgiving headliner. Come down off of that turkey high and come watch some of the best indie rock in Champaign-Urbana – you won’t regret it.


WHAT: Chase Baby, Jarrel Young, Truth aka Trouble, Ill State

WHERE: The Canopy Club ($10)

WHEN: Saturday, November 28th at 9:30 p.m.

If indie rock isn’t your thing, Canopy has an absolutely stacked night of local hip-hop lined up for Saturday. Chase Baby just dropped his project The Blue Collar, and is celebrating by having some of the best local emcees come out to support his release party. It’s a celebration.


WHAT: DJ Apollo

WHERE: Cowboy Monkey ($2 after 11)

WHEN: Saturday, November 28th at 10 p.m.

DJ Apollo rounds out Cowboy Monkey’s weekend of DJs, which may just be the perfect thing to burn off all of that pie you ate on Thursday.
