Improvisers Exchange

Led by Jason Finkelman, Improvisers Exchange is an initiative to bring together U of I students and community members to practice improvised music. It’s always a unique performance and anything could happen.

The Urbana Hootenanny

Rose Bowl Tavern // free // 8 p.m.

Every Monday at the Rose Bowl, come hang out with some great musicians. A sort of open mic meets song share, you can expect a variety of music and performers.

The Tumbleweeds

Rose Bowl Tavern // free // 5 p.m.

C4A’s Country music ensemble The Tumbleweeds are performing Tuesday evening, bringing bluegrass, western swing, and country rock.

Jupiter String Quartet, Kenneth Olsen

Krannert Center // $25 // 7:30 p.m.

The incredible Jupiter String Quartet will be joined by the Chicago Symphony Assistant Principal Cellist Kenneth Olsen.

WEDNESDAY, November 9th

Vine Street Syncopators, Dorothy Martirano and Armand Beaudoin

Rose Bowl Tavern // free // 5 p.m.

Jazz at Rose Bowl on Wednesdy with the Vine Street Syncopators, as well as a performance from duo Dorothy Martirano and Armand Beaudoin. 

THURSDAY, November 10th

Ashley Riley

Rose Bowl Tavern // free // 4 p.m.

Another round of americana happy hour, this week with Ashley Riley, playing rootsy indie and americana. 

Adam Ezra Group

Rose Bowl Tavern // $10 // 7:30 p.m.

The Adam Ezra Group plays a fusion of folk, rock, pop, and soul. They’ve played alongside of groups such as Train, The Wallflowers, The Wailers, and more. 

FRIDAY, November 11th

Here Come the Mummies, Sun Stereo

Canopy Club // $25 adv, $30 door // 6 p.m.

The always exciting embalmed funk rockers will be hitting the Canopy Club for a night of fun with the help of Sun Stereo. 

The Impalas

Huber’s // free // 7 p.m.

The Impalas play at Huber’s, bringing their brand of Texas roadhouse blues. Expect some tasty tunes.

OTNES, Primitive Lights, The Tomblands

Rose Bowl Tavern // $10 adv, $15 door // 9 p.m.

OTNES brings a perfect blend of pop and indie rock to Rose Bowl for a hometown show. Joining them is psych folk rockers Primitive Lights and rock band The Tomblands. 

SATURDAY, November 12th

Hot Iron String Band

Rose Bowl Tavern // free // 3 p.m.

Some classic fingerpicking and bluegrass on a Saturday afternoon with Hot Iron String Band. 

New Twang City

Huber’s // free // 7 p.m.

Some good ole country honky tonk, you’re in for a night of fun at Huber’s with New Twang City.

Sinfonia da Camera

Krannert Center // $40 // 7:30 p.m.

The always wonderful Sinfonia da Camera will be performing Rimsky-Korsakov, Walker, and Dvořák, with acclaimed pianist Rochelle Sennett joining the group. 

Latin American Ensemble

Smith Recital Hall // free // 7:30 p.m.

The Latin American Ensemble is a collaboration between the School of Music, and the Center for Latin American and Caribbean Studies. They’ll be playing music from Costa Rica, Perú, Ecuador, Brazil, Chile, Cuba, and the U.S.

Edna, Death Call, Gonzo Diablo

Loose Cobra // $10 suggested donation // 8 p.m.

Heavy metal group Edna celebrates the release of their new EP The End Times with help from Death Call and Gonzo Diablo. 

SUNDAY, November 13th


McKinley Church // $20 suggested donation // 4 p.m.

The Amasong choir is back with a fall concert titled “Sing the Things You See.” 

Rose Bowl Big Band

Rose Bowl Tavern // free // 4 p.m.

This U of I jazz group will be bringing all of the big band energy to Rose Bowl on Sunday, so get ready to dance. 

Jasmine Field Orchestra

Canopy Club // free // 6 p.m.

Made up of more than 70 members, this orchestra is a Western and Chinese symphony orchestra founded here in C-U. With an incredible number of musicians, this orchestra is one to hear.
