The Rekkid Store Report:  Nov. 3

Soooo….  Tell us about your new releases.

yandyOn the Parasol label front we wanted to mention You & Yourn’s support slot for Andrew Bird at Foellinger on Dec 8th is confirmed (and awesome) and that Nic & Heather will be holding their record release party this weekend, Saturday night (11/7) at Indi Go Art Gallery in downtown Champaign (the old Furniture Lounge location). Show starts at 7pm, Caleb Engstrom opens and cover is $5.00. If you don’t have a copy of You & Yourn’s new album, It Would Make Things Worse, on CD, LP or digital download…what are you waiting for?

Incoming! New releases this week include gemmage from Swedish kids The Mary Onettes, Nirvana’s Live At Reading (the best gig they ever played?) on multiple audio and video formats, Denmark’s Efterkland hooks up with The Danish Nat’l Chamber Orchestra for their new release, a crazy 4xCD Guided By Voices boxset with loads of unreleased stuff (it doesn’t seem possible), new albums from Morrissey (hope he’s feeling better), Jookabox, Brilliant Colors (on Slumberland), Felix (on Kranky), King Khan & BBQ Show, Keith Canisius…

Wax On: Those Neutral Milk Hotel LP re-issues for Avery Island and Aeroplane are pressed on 180g vinyl and come with download codes. Sorta hard to resist! DLPs from Devendra B (let’s see if his major label gets their vinyl done on time) and Lightning Bolt; 45s by David Bazan, Marshmallow Ghosts, Ready The Jet, 12″ vinyl EPs from Yeasayer and Widow Babies, LPs by White Denim, Imaad Wasif and Bugskull, and that Sufjan Stevens/Steven Halker comic book… FYI: the highly anticipated and long-delayed Washed Out 12″ remains delayed. Stay in the loop: Vinyl hounds especially should check our Twitter for daily news on limited edition wax and new arrivals.

Rocking Our World: Oh, The Beatles mono box, California progniks Astra’s latest album The Weirding, Led Zeppelin II, Mercury Rev’s 2005 opus The Secret Migration, which spends a lot of time on the deck in Autumn (because a couple of us think it is their *very best* late-period album) and the new CD from Mojo Magazine entitled The Wall Rebuilt, where cool bands (like The Amazing, Astra, Papercuts, Sweet Billy Pilgrim, Slaraffenland, more) cover Pink Floyd’s The Wall.
