Sophia Byrd is a soprano studying lyric theatre at U of I, and she participated in a 2018 oratorio that is now nominated for two Grammy awards.
Place by composer Ted Hearne and poet Saul Williams “explores the effects of gentrification in a Brooklyn neighborhood.” The work is nominated for best chamber music/small ensemble performance and best contemporary classical composition.
