Smile Politely

An update, and a thank you

Last week, we launched our very first donation campaign. You can read more about it here. In short, we are hoping to continue to grow and expand the magazine, and most importantly have the funds to pay our editors and writers more to help us do it.

So far we’ve had just over 100 people donate, and we are grateful for each and every contribution. Even more endearing are the messages some of our readers left alongside their donations. Sometimes, as editors and writers, it can feel like we are just sending our words into the void, not knowing if people are reading or caring about what we write. Hearing statements like “thanks for all you do to make & keep our community vibrant” or “thank you for staying committed to your values” or “your magazine is a priceless local gem and a one-stop shop for everything that is CU” truly encourage us to keep doing what we do.

If you haven’t donated yet, and would like to, there’s still time! Through September 15th, a donation of $100 or more, either all at once or spread out monthly, will get you a $50 gift card for Maize. Nothing says thank you like some delicious tacos and margs!

This week’s digest is a great example of our quest to be that go-to resource, as it contains our section editors’ suggestions for how to best experience C-U this month, as well as The Weekender. We’ve also included our latest featured article, one of those pieces that are a little longer and more in depth. It’s a good one.

Thank you for your readership, and your continued support. We really appreciate it.
