Emerging Community Leaders is a United Way of Champaign County initiative that encourages young professionals (age 21 to 40ish) to become involved with area nonprofit organizations through things like volunteering, board membership, and fundraising.

Applications are now open for the 2024 cohort. Participants will commit to attending five educational seminars from April to October, and will complete a team project. There will also be optional volunteer and social events throughout. The seminars include:

  • Finding Your Why
  • Nonprofit Basics
  • How to be an effective Board/Committee member
  • Fundraising for Impact
  • Accountability and Leadership in the Community

The application will close March 8th at noon, or before if they reach 55 applicants. For University of Illinois employees, there is a special cohort with no suggested age range. All programming takes place on campus during lunch hour.
