Bad at Twitter? This workshop might help

If you’re looking to improve your skills, or just make a lot of people listen to what nonsense you have to say on a regular basis, you might want to hit up this workshop to improve your Twitter feed (not to say it could ever be better than @Bubbbas, but it could help).

“Twitter for Professionals” workshop will be presented by Joanne Manaster, a science educator who has built a reputation as an accessible science expert through smart use of a website and social media, especially Twitter. Known as the “Science Goddess,” she has more than 13,500 Twitter followers.

At a free, hands-on workshop, Manaster will discuss how to make effective personal and professional connections online, based on a career or hobby. Hosted by the Champaign Public Library, the workshop will be from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 23, in the Busey Bank Computer Room of the library, located at 200 W. Green St.  The workshop is open to the public and registration is not required.

Novices as well as current Twitter users are invited to attend and questions from participants will be welcome. Beginners will be guided through the process of setting up a Twitter account.

Manaster is an online course developer and science lecturer at the UIUC School of Integrative Biology. She also shares her passion for science through her website at http://www.joannelovesscience.com. For more information, contact the library at [email protected] or by calling 217-403-2070.
