Local Business Owners Face Expenses of Childhood Cancer
Champaign, IL – Local fundraiser titled “Band Together for Davis” will be held this Friday and Saturday in support of Art Mart business owners Brian and Courtney McKay as their son Davis faces complications with Pre B Cell ALL Leukemia treatment. Blue wristbands are being sold at $10 per band during Art Mart open hours on Friday (4/15/16) and Saturday (4/16/16) as well as a handful of local businesses which include First Federal Savings Bank of Champaign-Urbana, Wilberg & Associates at Keller Williams TREC, and the Westview Elementary Fun Night.
“Davis is currently suffering from respiratory failure due to acute pneumonia,” states the www.DavisMcKay.org fundraising website. With only one month of chemotherapy left to beat leukemia, the DavisMcKay.org wristbands are being sold in an effort to ease the burden of medical expenses obtained from an extended hospital stay that began last month.
“Art Mart has always supported our community and participating in this fundraiser was an easy way to show how much the people of Champaign-Urbana appreciate their ongoing generosity,” says Ata Durukan, Senior VP at First Federal Savings Bank of Champaign-Urbana. “Our hope is that the community rallies behind Davis and helps bring him home soon.”
On top of purchasing wristbands, donations to the Davis McKay Leukemia Benefit Fund can be made at DavisMcKay.org or by sending a check made out to the Davis McKay Leukemia Benefit Fund to Busey Bank, 100 W. University Avenue, Champaign, IL 61820.
