Believe it or not, a pizza place has some of the best wings in town

When you’re living in a town or neighborhood and you’re someone who enjoys dining out or ordering food, sometimes you get in a rut of what to order.

There’s that conversation you have with yourself or your partner or roommate that usually goes something like this:

“What do you want to eat?”

“I don’t know. What do you want?”

“What about (x restaurant)?”

“I feel like we ALWAYS go there.”

And so on.

Finally, you pull the trigger and are fairly bored because you’ve gone with the old standby. It’s easy, it’s just fine.

And hey, that’s alright. In C-U there are plenty of great places to eat, but if you hit them up constantly, you’re bound to get a little bored. Trying items that you normally wouldn’t eat off of the menu is a great way to try and break that monotony. Sometimes there are hits and sometimes there are misses. It’s part of learning a restaurants strengths and weaknesses. Sometimes you can get a feel for how well your server knows the food at their establishment.

Strangely enough, you typically don’t go off the rails or get really bored with ordering pizza. Pizza is just one of those foods that’s tough to get sick of, and typically, you order YOUR pizza. The toppings that you enjoy for the perfect combo of cheese and veggies and meat or whatever.

The other night, though, I had an urge for pizza. It wasn’t an uncontrollable desire or anything, just a general craving for pizza. So, I fired up the internet machine to make an order and I noticed that Jet’s Pizza also serves chicken wings.

I immediately decided that I wanted wings, but was fairly skeptical as I hadn’t known that this place, known for a solid pie, was capable of serving up dynamite wings. So, I thought I’d order pizza and a small sample of wings and see what was what.

I ordered a couple of boneless wings with hot sauce. Yes, I understand eating boneless wings is sacrilege. But you know what? They were outstanding.

There was a solid crunch on the breading, just the right amount of heat, and each wing pretty decent sized.

Sometimes when you step outside of your comfort zone you get rewarded. This was one of those times, and I’m going to definitely recommend giving the wings at Jet’s a shot.

In fact, since I wasn’t planning on writing about them I devoured them pretty quickly before I could snap a picture. A minor blunder in this case. A major one would be not giving these wings a chance.
