Car seats are one of the most necessary and one of the pricier items you need when you have a baby, and you have to replace them as that baby gets bigger and becomes a toddler. It’s also not the safest idea to get one used or second hand.

The Maternal and Child Health Division at Champaign-Urbana Public Health District is doing a donation drive, to help get new car seats to low income families in the area. Those who are WIC participants will be eligible to receive one.

They have an Amazon wish list where the seats can be purchased and shipped to CUPHD. Car seat recipients will learn about proper seat installation from a certified child passenger safety technician.

On September 25th, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., they will be doing a free car seat inspection. This is open to anyone, and will be happening in the north parking lot near the garage. No appointment is needed.
