C-U has a new community ambassador program

Chambana Welcome Crew is a collaboration between Visit Champaign County, Champaign County Economic Development Corporation, and U of I’s Dual Language Program. The crew consists of “ambassadors” from a variety of backgrounds tasked with introducing newcomers to the community.

According to the press release: “Ambassadors will connect with their recruits to serve as a ‘first friend’ in the community, helping find the resources they need to settle here.” The program is opening to anyone who’s moved here since early 2020, and anyone considering a move here. Program leaders are expecting to work with employers in the area to match their new recruits with ambassadors.

As the program grows, more ambassadors will be added to the mix. If you are an enthusiastic cheerleader for C-U and want to share your favorite places and events with a new resident, you might considering applying here.
