Camping reservations are open at Middle Fork River Forest Preserve

A dark sky that is dotted with stars. There are black silhouettes of trees along the horizon.

Campgrounds at Middle Fork will open on April 1st, but you can begin making reservations now. For the time being, they will be maintaining 50% capacity. That is subject to change, depending on the COVID situation.

The Harry L. Swartz Campground has 65 campsites when at full capacity, and 53 of those have electricity.

The Middle Fork River Forest Preserve became a designated Dark Sky park in 2018, so it’s the best place in the county to go do a little stargazing on a clear night.
