For the third year, Carle Illinois College of Medicine has invited everyone from middle school students to healthcare providers across the state to pitch ideas for solving health problems. They’ve selected 20 finalists, who will now offer their pitches to a panel of judges and virtual live audience. Ten winning teams will be selected to receive $10,000 in resources to bring their ideas to fruition through the Health Maker Lab. From the College of Medicine website:
This year’s entries varied widely demographically and geographically. Teams from 16 Illinois counties submitted proposals. Of the finalist entries, four came from medical students, three of those from the Carle Illinois College of Medicine. Two teams are comprised of students at the University of Illinois Laboratory High School. One entry was from a Chicago-area eighth-grade student, and three were physicians or staff from Carle Health.
The live event is on April 17th from 2 to 5 p.m. Anyone can watch; you need to pre-register here.
