City of Urbana announces a call for banner designs

From a City of Urbana press release:

The City of Urbana is calling all visual artists in Champaign County to submit their designs for a group of street banners at the Boneyard Creek Improvements Project. The winning design will be installed on nine light poles on Broadway Avenue, between University Avenue and Water Street. The call, named The City of Urbana Raises Your Art, aims to provide opportunities for local artists to display their works and connect with new audiences, as well as to allow Urbana residents to engage with the arts in public spaces.

Amateur and professional artists are encouraged to apply by sending digital images and other materials to [email protected] by March 6, 2016. All applications will be reviewed by a small jury, and the winner will be acknowledged on April 11, 2015, at a Boneyard commemoration event. The official guideline can be found at www.urbanaillinois.us/banner-call.

For more information, please contact Pauline Tannos, Public Arts Intern, Community Development Services Department, at (217) 328 8265 or [email protected]. To receive updates on this call, follow Urbana Public Arts on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
