City of Urbana presents Carol Farnum: Artist of the Corridor

From a City of Urbana press release:

The City of Urbana invites the public to view the latest Artist of the Corridor exhibition featuring Urbana artist Carol Farnum. The subject matter of her work is predominately abstraction. Farnum has been an abstract expressionist painter for over thirty years and has worked mainly in watercolors. Farnum says her work is “an abstract expression of the world around us as people, of our raw human nature and emotional depth.” She pulls from her own experience in the world and relies heavily on music to evoke strong emotional reactions from viewers of her artwork. Farnum playfully refers to her work as “The Color of Music” because her creative space, music and painting are completely intertwined. Farnum has been influenced by artists such as Salvador Dali, Patrick Nagel, Gerhard Richter, Joan Mitchell and various stencil and street artists. She is currently part of in international collective called The Secret Society of Supervillain Artists (SSOSVA).

Carol Farnum is free, open to the public, and will be on display in the City Building lobby at 400 S. Vine Street in Urbana through February 1, 2015. Carol Farnum maintains a studio practice in Urbana, IL.
