Kiwanis Peanut Days to be held Sept. 23-24

The C-U Kiwanis club will hold its annual Peanut Days event on Sept 23-24, 2016, to raise funds for the club’s extensive youth programs.

Kiwanians will have peanuts available on Friday, Sept. 23, at Sam’s Club in Champaign and on Saturday, Sept. 24, at the Champaign Park District’s Flannel Fest in Centennial Park and at the County Market store at Duncan and Kirby.

Individuals who wish to order a box of 100 bags of peanuts for a $40 donation may do so using an order from on the club’s website (CUKiwanis.org).

Donations help support Kiwanis programs that include distribution of more than 1,000 books annually to pre-school youngsters in Champaign and Urbana; Peanut, Farm and Little League baseball programs; camping scholarships, recognition of outstanding high school juniors; high school senior scholarships; the University of Illinois men’s postseason banquet. Donations also provide support for the Champaign-Urbana Schools Foundation aid for homeless students, the Don Moyer Boys and Girls Club, and other programs. The Kiwanis Tom Jones Challenger League baseball program serves special needs children.
