I’d love to see Black Dog Urbana open in time for PYGMALION weekend, but Yelp has misinformation, and it will be changed.
At this time, there’s no official date for Black Dog Urbana’s reopening according to owner Mike Cochran, but the original Downtown Urbana location (which closed in 2020) will reopen — it just won’t be next month.
In 2017, TimeOut New York named Black Dog one of the best 23 barbecue restaurants in the country. The business first opened the Urbana barbecue joint in February 2009, and in September 2015, Black Dog opened a second location in Downtown Champaign in the old train depot. The Champaign restaurant continues to be open for dine in and takeout.
