On Saturday, Champaign-Urbana will be in the partial viewing zone of an annual eclipse (also called a ring of fire eclipse). From C-U, we won’t be able to see the full eclipse but we will be able to see part of it.  The University of Illinois Astronomical Observatory and the University of Illinois Astronomical Society will offer free viewings through the observatories largest and some smaller telescopes during the eclipse. The event will occur from around 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. If the weather corporates, make sure to use safety glasses to keep your eyes safe while watching this event. Another annual eclipse won’t be viable in the US again until 2039.
