The Urbana Park District recently announced a new temporary art installation at King Park in Urbana. The Peace Post is the work of artists Lisa Kesler and Ja Nelle Davenport Pleasure. Kesler is the artist behind one of the amazing murals inside the new Encanto restaurant, and Davenport Pleasure is the 2023 Urbana Poet Laureate.
The theme for the installation is “Peace Prevailing Within Our Community” and “the artists worked with recycled and found objects to create the message of overcoming and perseverance.” There will be an official unveiling on January 15, 2024.
