Head to Middle Fork River Forest Preserve to view the Perseid meteor shower

The Perseid meteor shower will hit its peak between August 11th and 13th, and you can join other stargazers at Middle Fork River Forest Preserve on the 11th to view it from an official Dark Sky park

At 8:30 p.m., retired director of Staerkel Planetarium David Leake will give a short talk, then you can check out the show for rest of the evening. Apparently peak visibility will be around 2 a.m., but it should be visible throughout the night if you can’t last that long.

The program is free, and you should bring a chair or blanket. It will be cancelled if skies are cloudy.
