This Sunday, April 21st from 1 to 5 p.m., a student-led initiative by students at Carle Illinois College of Medicine will be hosting Diabetes Dash, which they’re putting on at Champaign Park District’s Martens Center to help educate 8-12 year-olds about diabetes. This is a great opportunity to have fun and learn at the same time.

Here’s a little more about the event:

Diabetes Dash is a scavenger hunt-style activity that aims to teach kids aged 8-12 about diabetes. In this activity, participants will work through a sequence of clues leading them to various locations around the Martens Center, all in an effort to assist their friend Di in the management of her diabetes. Solving each clue will help accomplish a specific learning objective, such as understanding the differences between Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes, understanding the management of insulin-dependent diabetes, and recognizing the signs and symptoms of hypoglycemia.
