Anthem, a new inclusive bar and dance club, is set to open this November in Downtown Champaign. Located where Soma Ultralounge used to be, Anthem will be a dance club with a lounge featuring a unique craft cocktail (and mocktail) menu.

Michael Maggi, the mastermind behind the new bar and dance club by CRS Hospitality, told me, “We could not be more excited to bring this much needed venue to our LGBTQ+ community. We have been working diligently to renovate, staff, and create a space that EVERYONE will feel welcome and included. Our pride in this project goes beyond just once a year. We will live it everyday, and we welcome everyone that wants to join us at Anthem where our anthem is: Love is love, and everyone counts.”

More than just a bar, the dance club will host Throwback Thursday parties with vocal dance albums from the 60s, 70s, 80s, and 90s. On Friday nights, plan to dance to music from the 2000s and on Saturdays, Chicago house music. Anthem will also host live performances, fundraisers, and events.

Maggi says the dance club’s “theme parties like “White Party” and “Tea Dances” are sure to please. Let’s not forget the live performances that will feature LGBTQ+ dancers, comedians, drag performers, bands, and more.”

I’m excited for Anthem to open this November. If you’re excited, too, say yay in the comments or send us an email.
