It’s almost time for the Champaign County Humane Society Giant Garage Sale

It happens every year. Summer encroaches and I start to look at everything in my house with a “Do I realllly need this” glance, and I start in on the all-the-rooms-and-closets-I’m-going-to-organize list. Hosting my own garage sale to get rid of stuff strikes me as a thoroughly exhausting endeavor, so CCHS’s upcoming Giant Garage Sale is the perfect opportunity for clearing some stuff out of this house. All I have to do is drop off my items, and their sales will help raise some money for a good cause.

Drop off dates are Thursday and Friday, May 16-17 from noon to 6 p.m., and Saturday, May 18 from 9 a m. to 3 p.m. at 214 S. Walnut in Champaign (the former Rogards store). For info on what they will take and what they won’t, check out the event website

If you’re interested in shopping the sale — yes I know, I’ve just told you to get rid of things and now I’m suggesting you go buy more things, but at least you are reusing and helping animals, not buying new — here are the dates:

  • Friday, May 24th – 6 p.m. – 9 p.m. – $5 per person entrance donation
  • Saturday, May 25th – 8 a.m. – 6 p.m. – $3 per person entrance donation* until 3 p.m.
  • Sunday, May 26 – 9 a.m. – noon –  $3 Bag Sale; 12:30 – 2 p.m. GIVEAWAY – $1 per person entrance donation
