Earlier this year, Janelle James began appearing in the new sitcom Abbott Elementary, after several years on stage as a stand up comedian. Some of her first comedy stages were here in C-U. Now, she’s been nominated for an Emmy for Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy. I haven’t even looked at the other nominees, but James is absolutely deserving of the honor. She plays principal Ava Coleman, a vain and rather selfish character, and she does it masterfully. The series was also nominated for Best Comedy Series.
