Jimmy John’s threatens to leave Illinois after tax raise

Jimmy John Liautaud, the founder of Jimmy John’s, is mad as hell about the new increases in Illinois’ corporate and individual income taxes.  As such, he told The News Gazette that he is strongly considering moving his company, currently headquartered in Champaign, out of state.

Liautaud made an appearance Wednesday morning on 1400 AM’s Penny for your Thoughts with Jim Turpin.  On the program, a worked-up Liautaud described the resulting financial harms that would come to C-U, a place he declared his love for and described as being like “Mayberry.”  Liautaud also spoke out against leftists in state and national government.

Jimmy John will be considering offers from “pro-business states”, and gave a 3 – 6 month time frame for his decision.
