Habitat for Humanity of Champaign County is gearing up for their annual Raise the Woof! event, happening this Saturday, September 9th, in the Champaign County Restore parking lot. They’ve assembled 20 teams representing groups and organizations from all over C-U for a pet house building contest. Some are “Old Dogs”, or teams that have some construction experience and are building their houses from scratch. The “Young Pups” are teams that need a little help, and will be given materials and directions for a dog house, but then they have creative control over the decorations and aesthetic.

Even if you aren’t part of a team, or have a team that you are rooting for, you should still go check out the event. Restore will be opening an hour early that day, at 9 a.m., and there will be pet rescue organizations on hand as well as Dave’s Dogs food truck. People of all ages are welcome to build a birdhouse to take home.

The pet houses will be on display at Restore following the competition, and will be sold to raise money for Habitat builds throughout the year.
