This Thursday, January 26th, the University of Illinois’ Krannert Art Museum will be celebrating their Opening Night for the Spring 2017 season.
The night kicks off at 5 p.m. with a special preview for KAM members. At 6 p.m., there will be a reception for the public. Then, at 7:30, there will be a live exhibition from artist Autumn Knight.

Public reception
Celebrate with us and get a first look at the season’s new art exhibitions. The Public Opening Night reception will feature live music, refreshments, and the company of Champaign-Urbana art enthusiasts, U of I faculty, and students from across campus.
Welcome by Museum Director and Interim Dean of the College of Fine and Applied Arts Kathleen Harleman will begin at 6 pm.
Performance
This series of scripted and improvised comedic dialogues explores the entwined relationship between good and evil, with the Devil and Black Christ as pivotal personas and appearances by Black Christ’s therapist and a flesh-eating monster.
This art performance is inspired by the Festival de Cristo Negro (Black Christ Festival) and regional mythology in Portobelo, Panama, asking broad questions about the place of religion and belief in evil among black cultures of the Americas. Featuring Chivas Michael, Autumn Knight, and Xavier Roe.
