Listen to a talk about kids’ voices in comics

A white woman with glasses and short brown hair wears a long sleeve purple shirt wears a pink, green, and purple scarf. She sits in front of a computer with comic books on the screen. She also has comic books laid out on the desk in front of her.

For the first Center for Writing Studies brown bag of the semester, Dr. Carol Tilley will be discussing her research on young people’s comics reading in the mid-20th century. Even though it is sometimes difficult to find young people’s voices in historical records, Tilley will discuss “some of the unexpected places where I have encountered children’s experiences, stories, and creations in more authentic or, at least, less-mediated forms”. You can attend in person or register link to the watch online and everyone is welcome.
