Local arts agencies open artist call for The Great ARTdoors project

Public art has been a saving grace for those craving art experiences during the COVID-19 shutdown. And now, thanks to a new a collaboration between the Spurlock Museum, the Urbana Park District, the Champaign Park District, the Urbana Arts and Culture Program, and 40 North, it will also provide a much needed opportunity for local artists, particularly those from underserved communities.

Guided by the belief that “public art has the ability to visually and intellectually activate spaces by connecting people and sparking dialogue,” the Great ARTdoors, will award 10 selected local artists stipends “to create outdoor art installations in several Champaign and Urbana parks and community gardens.”

The deadline for submission is July 15th. Get the details here.
