Local bands robbed on tour, benefit show Thursday

Local folk-punk band Bad Catman and solo acoustic act Clayton Thompson (Smoke Coke, Elux Lucis/ex-Commodity) had to cut their Bearded Wisdom Tour early due to a robbery that occurred in St. Louis on Sunday, December 19th.

The new local act’s tour vehicle was broken into in while they were at the St. Louis Science Museum. Items stolen include a laptop, a cellphone, cash, a credit card, hundreds of CDs, clothes and other personal belongings. Fortunately, no musical equipment was stolen from the local touring acts, but total damages and loss are several thousands of dollars.

The rest of the week long tour’s shows are canceled except the last day which is being held at Dan Aykroyd’s House in Champaign at 7 p.m. on Thursday, December 23rd, which will now be a benefit show to offset costs of the unfortunate event.

Along with Bad Catman and Clayton Thompson, there will be 2 bands reuniting, including local hardcore punk band Breaksynapse (members of Bad Catman, The Diamond Stretch, Elux Lucis, and Gay For Cats) who have been inactive since 2007 and Peoria glam-indie favorites NJCK Cowboys (former and current members of Obi-Wan Kanblo Mi and Maltross) who broke up earlier this year. Also, Dim’r (new project from Ryan Brewer from Goodnight & Good Morning) will be playing.
