Following yesterday’s 28-10 loss against Northwestern, The News-Gazette and many other outlets are reporting that Illinois head football coach Lovie Smith will not be returning to the team.
The team dropped to 2-5 this season, and Smith has a record of 17-39 over the course of five seasons as the head coach. Smith was hired in 2016.
