Make Japanese sweets with your person for Valentine’s Day

Japan House is hosting a couples Wagashi workshop on Valentine’s Day, if you’re looking for something unique to do with your significant other. There are two opportunities, one at 4 p.m. and one at 5:30 p.m., but spots are extremely limited so you’ll want to get a jump on registering. From the event page:

Couples will learn the history and importance of the traditional Japanese sweet served during tea ceremonies called wagashi from our in-house master and cookbook author Kimiko Gunji.

Based on recipes in her book, “The Art of Wagashi” , couples will create two different special Valentine’s Day inspired wagashi: Strawberry Awayukikan and Pink Anmochi. After the hands-on portion of the workshop, couples will be seated together and served a bowl of matcha to enjoy with their delicious creations and their Valentine.

You can purchase your tickets here. Also when you go, make sure you are wearing or have a clean pair of socks, as you will be asked to remove your shoes.
