Minnesota Twins draft Illini LHP Tyler Jay #6 overall

Illini pitcher Tyler Jay suffered a season ending loss against Vanderbilt in the NCAA Super Regional yesterday, but quickly after the game he was taken sixth overall by the Minnesota Twins in the MLB Draft.

Jay had a ridiculous season — he had a 1.08 ERA this year, and capped off his Illini career as a Louisville Slugger first-team All-American and Big Ten Pitcher of the Year.

The lefty from Lemont became only the second Illini player to be drafted in the first round and the highest Illini to ever be taken in the draft.
