MTD just launched an app to make SafeRides on campus more accessible

SafeRides is a service that MTD provides to give students an option for safe transportation when a regular bus route can’t get them to their destination.

The new app is called MTD Connect. Now, instead of using designated pick up spots, the app will allow users “Plan a Journey” between the hours of 7 p.m. and 6:30 a.m. and plan for a pick up and drop off.

Here the guidelines, per the MTD website:

The purpose of SafeRides is to provide safe transportation to individuals who are generally traveling alone when no other means of safe transportation are available within the designated SafeRides boundaries. There is a maximum limit of three (3) persons per pick-up location. SafeRides does not duplicate fixed-route bus service already provided by MTD. All rides with MTD are considered safe rides. SafeRides does not provide emergency transportation services to medical facilities. (Please call 9-1-1 for medical assistance.) SafeRides does not provide service to and from any bars.
