Unit 4 School District will move Novak Academy, their “trauma informed alternative school for Central and Centennial students who struggle in a traditional high school setting,” to Parkland College for the 2023-2024 school year. The academy is currently housed at the Columbia Center on Neil Street, but that building needs to close for renovations.
The school will reside on the 3rd floor of the X-wing at Parkland. From Superintendent Sheila Boozer, “We chose Parkland for many positive reasons. This temporary move will allow our students to participate in dual credit courses, provide them with exposure to several options for post-secondary success and support the goals of Unit 4’s Strategic Plan to ensure that our students are college and career ready.”
