Parkland’s Staerkel Planetarium featuring musical light shows

Parkland College’s Staerkel Planetarium will be presenting a total of four musical light shows on the weekends of Feb. 19-20 and Feb. 26-27. 

From Parkland College’s press release:

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. — The William M. Staerkel Planetarium at Parkland College will offer musical laser shows to the public during the last two weekends of February. 

Laser Shows at Staerkel PlanetariumTwo shows will take place each Friday and Saturday night, Feb. 19-20 and 26-27. Tickets are $8 per person per show, all sold at the door. Residents can listen to win tickets on REWIND 92.5 FM.   
 
While the planetarium has a history of doing musical light shows, the laser shows will be a first-ever event at the dome, said David Leake, director of the planetarium. 

Laser shows at the planetarium are not recommended for those who easily succumb to motion sickness.    

February 19 – Pink Floyd Night
9:30pm “Dark Side of the Moon”
10:30pm “The Wall”

February 20 – 80’s/90’s Night
9:30pm  Laseretro (featuring the music of Red Rider, Tears for Fears, The Police, Duran Duran, The Cure, INXS and more)
10:30pm Laser X (featuring the music of Stabbing Westward, Rage Against the Machine, Foo Fighters, Alice in Chains, Rammstein, White Zombie, and more)

February 26 – Metal Night
9:30pm Laser Zeppelin
10:30pm Laser Vinyl (featuring the music of AC/DC, Van Halen, Queen, Aerosmith, Journey, and more)

February 27
9:30pm Hypnotica (featuring the music of the Crystal Method, Fat Boy Slim, Prodigy, Bjork, the Chemical Brothers and more)
10:30pm Double Feature, with the Beatles and Laser Pop (featuring the music of ‘N Sync, Smash Mouth, The Beach Boys, the B-52’s, and more)
