Small businesses are such an important part of this community, which is why I was so excited to see that Plant Mode has been in business in Champaign-Urbana for ten years. Owner Matthis Helmick first started selling plants out of his apartment, then in the loft of Furniture Lounge, then in Midtown, and now he has a beautiful store front on Walnut Street in Downtown Champaign. Helmick said he doesn’t have any plans for a celebration, but it’s this editor’s opinion that someone should change that.
