The Champaign County Continuum of Service Providers to the Homeless is looking for proposals for a low-barrier, year-round emergency shelter. As we’ve written about before, this is something that is greatly needed in our community. The current year-round emergency shelter has had staffing issues, and has changed their policy to exclude people under the influence of drugs or alcohol (creating a high barrier for assistance).
The chosen proposal will be supported by CSPH, who will advocate for outside funding and provide technical assistance for utilizing CSPH funding. Proposals should follow these guidelines:
- Emphasize Evidence-Based Practices & Trauma-Informed Care
- Utilize the Harm-Reduction Model
- Practice high fidelity to Housing First concepts
- Be culturally competent and affirming of LGBTQ+ populations in both planning and service delivery
- Engage fully with the Continuum’s Coordinated Entry System as an official Access Point
Send proposals to Thomas Bates ([email protected]) by November 12th, and include a cover letter with a summary of the proposal, description of services, explanation of how the shelter will meet the CSPH requests detailed above, how the proposal will integrate with other CSPH initiatives, and the approximate budget for the proposal.
